Brasero Named Finalist in Multiple Jean Banchet Award Categories

Brasero named finalist in multiple Jean Banchet Award categories: Best New Restaurant and Best Design

Brasero Named as Finalist for "Best Design" and "Best New Restaurant" at the Jean Banchet Awards, 2025.

The 2025 finalists for Chicago’s local food honors – the Jean Banchet Awards – have been announced, and Brasero has secured spots in two major categories: Best Design and Best New Restaurant. These nominations recognizes the hard work, creativity, and vision that went into every detail of this incredible space. John Manion’s other concept, El Che, has received a nomination for Restaurant of the Year.

About the Awards

The Banchet Awards is a celebration of culinary excellence in Chicago, gathering more than 400 of Chicagoland’s foremost chefs, culinary professionals, and industry insiders. It is the sole Chicago-based awards ceremony honoring originality and talent across the region. Named after Chef Jean Banchet, who was inducted into the Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame in 2013, the organization pays homage to his legacy.

We could not be more excited for John and team to receive this recognition, after working with them so closely to bring the vision for Brasero to life. From the initial concept development to a comprehensive brand identity, the team at HiFi worked with Manion on every aspect of the guest experience, which began well well before guests stepped through the door. From the website, to the illustrations on the menus, to integrated artwork on the walls reminiscent of memories from John’s past – every detail compliments the absolutely immersive interiors created by the team at Siren Betty Design.

The finalists are chosen by an anonymous panel of over 10 people who are food journalists, professionals in the food and beverage space and “hardcore local foodies.
