Building Andros Taverna: A Look Back, Four Years Later
Four years ago, Andros Taverna opened its doors with a clear vision – to simply be, “A Good Place to Eat”.
In 2021, Andros Taverna opened its doors with a clear vision—timeless Greek flavors, modern energy, and an experience that felt like dining amongst family. As the restaurant marks its fourth anniversary, we’re looking back at how HiFi Brands helped shape Andros into a Chicago favorite.
Setting the Table
Before Andros became a staple in Logan Square, HiFi teamed up with chefs Doug Psaltis and Hsing Chen of Eat Well Hospitality, with partner Ryan O’Donnell of Ballyhoo Hospitality, to craft a brand that would stand out in Chicago’s Greek dining scene.
Inspired by Chef Psaltis’ family heritage and NYC roots, we set out to create something that felt fresh but familiar—where quality meets comfort.
Our Approach
Leaning into the natural health benefits of Mediterranean cuisine, we worked with ownership to develop the core strategy and positioning of the restaurant, rooted in emerging health and wellness trends. Fresh produce and lean proteins anchored the menu, which resonated with the neighborhood and Chicago’s growing health-conscious crowd.
Our goal was to bring Andros’ ethos to life at every touchpoint. From strategy and brand identity to signage, menus, apparel, packaging, and digital presence, we leaned into a design language that balanced warmth with sophistication—clean, confident typography, a modern Mediterranean color palette, and details that nod to Greek tradition without feeling cliché.
The result? A brand that feels as effortless as Andros’ tagline: a good place to eat.
Four Years In
Since launching, Andros has racked up accolades, including being named one of Esquire's Best New Restaurants in America and being added to the Michelin Guide in 2022.
Andros continues to be a go-to for fresh, vibrant Greek food in Chicago. The space still feels inviting, the branding feels relevant, and the experience remains as intentional as day one.
