Maxwells Trading: ‘Best New Restaurant of 2024’ According to Eater Magazine
Eater Magazine crowns Maxwells as Chicago’s ‘Best New Restaurant’ in 2024.
The Eater Awards provide Chicago with an annual opportunity to celebrate the restaurants and hospitality professionals who truly make an impact. These are the venues that blaze new trails, bring innovation, and enrich the city's dining fabric with color and texture—proving that a great restaurant requires more than just vibes.
With delicious food, thoughtful service, and Chicago's signature self-determination, these establishments embody what makes the local dining scene extraordinary.
Maxwells Trading is the brainchild of Underscore Hospitality partners Josh Tilden and Erling Wu-Bower. Josh and Erling created Maxwells so they would have their ideal place to unwind, eat, drink, and listen to music with their family and friends.
“The rehabbed space is gorgeous with a rooftop garden that regularly hosts students from the Gary Comer Youth Center, teaching them the ways of urban farming and the hospitality industry.”
“Maxwells Trading delivers with a globally influenced menu that deliciously delights diners with discriminating tastes ... while it might be challenging to define the diverse menu at Maxwells Trading, it’s easy to find the restaurant’s heart.”
What a wild and successful year it has been with Maxwells Trading! Congratulations to chefs Erling Wu-Bower, Chris Jung, and the entire team at Maxwells.
